TARGETED, DEPTH-ORIENTED THERAPY

Therapy for Adults with ADHD

People with ADHD don’t struggle to pay attention—you pay attention to everything simultaneously. How to stay focused?

Your brain is wired differently.  There’s nothing wrong with how you’re built, but it can feel that way when you don’t have the right tools or are expected to function like everyone else.  Many people think ADHD disappears in adulthood (it doesn’t). It’s frustrating when you fail to meet deadlines, overspend, or can’t pay attention to your best friend.

For many with ADHD, life is a struggle. You know what to do to be successful, but you can’t make yourself do it.

Together, we’ll discover what works for you and cultivate lasting change. You deserve a tailored approach, based on your personal strengths and the latest ADHD research.

Do I have ADHD?

Common symptoms of ADHD are:

  • Inattention to detail, resulting in careless errors, or hyperfocus

  • Difficulty focusing

  • Trouble listening to others

  • Failure to complete tasks, follow instructions, or follow through on commitments

  • Problematic organizational skills

  • Avoidance of tasks requiring sustained attention and concentration

  • Frequently misplacing or losing things (e.g., keys, phone, glasses)

  • Forgetfulness or problems with short-term memory

  • Time blindness (e.g., underestimating how long a task takes)

  • Distractibility (by sounds, movement, internal thoughts)

  • Impatience or difficulty waiting

  • Fidgetiness and/or internal restlessness

  • Being “on the go” (you have more energy than most)

  • Excessive talking or a sustained habit of interrupting others

  • Sensitivity to rejection, criticism, or teasing

THE PROCESS OF THERAPY

How We’ll Work Together

Schedule a Consultation

To ensure goodness of fit, schedule a free 15-minute video or phone consultation. During this call, we’ll discuss what you’d like to explore in therapy and how I can support you in this journey, including the results you’re hoping to see and logistics.

Initial Appointment

During our first session, we’ll spend 60-70 minutes talking about what has led you to therapy. This session often feels like a thorough but informal interview. I’ll listen deeply to discern your needs and preferences.

Ongoing Sessions

For the first month of therapy, weekly sessions are the norm. We’ll collaborate on goals and plans to achieve results based on what matters most to you. We’ll identify potential barriers and implement strategies to conquer them. Most importantly, I’ll hold space for you to rest, heal, and grow.

  • Absolutely. Most adults with ADHD know exactly what they should be doing, but barriers prevent them from completing their plans and goals.

I have decades of experience helping adults like yourself successfully navigate the roadblocks.

  • No. Medication can be an essential component of treatment, but it doesn't work for everyone. Furthermore, no pill will motivate you to wash the dishes, balance the budget, stop interrupting your spouse, or close the garage door on your way to work.

  • Although hyperactive symptoms may fade over time, ADHD is developmental in nature. It's with you for life. Learning how to successfully navigate how you're built and work with your strengths is the goal.

Each person's experience of ADHD is unique--so is your treatment plan. I will tailor our work to meet your needs. For maximum results, you will be expected to work outside of session.
